“Together, We ARE Giant Steps” … says it all.

“Together, We Are Giant Steps” is this year’s theme for Giant Steps’ 23rd annual gala. We decided on the theme because Giant Steps, through the years has served the autism community and continues to serve a variety of people and groups throughout the Chicago-land area.

We are students and we are participants. We are parents and we are staff. We are volunteers. We are donors and we are contributors. We are business partners. TOGETHER, we are all one community! We all make Giant Steps what it is today! We would not be who we are or where we are without any one of these individuals or groups!

We are proud to honor our founder, Debra Nauman at this year’s “Together, We Are Giant Steps” 23rd annual gala. Debra Nauman founded Giant Steps in 1996 when options for her son Riley, ran out. The public school Riley attended did not provide the services and environment he needed to learn. Debra turned to her local legislatures for help, and through the Illinois General Assembly, Debra secured the initial funding to start Giant Steps with the help of Judy Biggert, former U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 13th congressional district.
