Canopy Adds a Garden!!

What better reason for our participants to enjoy the outdoors than to take care of and enjoy a garden area!

Canopy Parents’ Club purchased garden beds, flowers, vegetables, and soil with funds that were raised and saved from previous events that they hosted. The Canopy Parents’ Club also donated all of the gardening tools! In addition to providing all of the necessary materials for the garden, they went above and beyond to get the garden set up and ready for the participants! Once the set up was complete they made sure that the garden beds were painted and had fresh soil laid out prior to the Canopy Open House!

“It was a joy to help out and meet some of the other parents. It was especially rewarding, knowing that Canopy will be offering the participants an opportunity to build on learning and improving their skills on so many levels. It will also be a great way for everyone to get outdoors.”

Participants and Canopy staff were then able to plant the plants and flowers and top off the beds with remaining soil. Participants and Canopy staff have been maintaining the garden since to keep it thriving!

“I follow Canopy on Facebook and I love seeing photos of the participants watering the plants and using the gardening tools our families donated.”

The outdoor space where the garden is located is a comfortable place for the participants to enjoy. The Canopy Parents’ Club has been extremely gracious in supporting setting up this space including donating outdoor furniture such as: chairs, tables, and cushions. This beautiful outdoor space was showcased at the recent Canopy Open House along with the new Life Skills Kitchen and Laundry Facility, new adult tricycles that were recently donated and the Library space that the Canopy Parents’ Club set up for participants!
