Remote Learning @ Home; STEAM!

Our Remote Learning Series continues with updates from our STEAM Department team, Kerrie Wiedman and Tia Purnell!  They have been busy keeping students engaged and curious about the world around them! Check out some of the super cool activities they have planned to bring STEAM to students’ homes!

Welcome to another year of creativity and fun with STEAM! Although our learning has been remote, the STEAM department has enjoyed finding new ways to keep families engaged with the application of science, technology, engineering art and math through exploration and creativity. We have missed being able to be with our students in person, but we have enjoyed exploring remote learning possibilities! Though the “remote learning” experience is new for us all, it has encouraged us to continue to help students obtain a more holistic understanding of the world around them while being home.

Our activities have encouraged students and their families to explore the concepts of STEAM. Families have been able to work together and explore, learn and create.  Through our lessons, we hope to engage students and encourage them to be curious.  Our lessons promote problem solving while asking critical thinking along the way.   Through the activities students follow step by step direction, work on positive social interactions with family members, practice waiting and work on independence  by gathering their materials.  Our remote lessons integrate the STEAM curriculum while making learning fun and meaningful!

Please be sure to check out the STEAM Virtual Classroom for all virtual STEAM lessons and videos and the STEAM Website for all fun activities, resources, updates and announcements from the STEAM department!
