Giant Steps’ recognizes staff…
Each month, Giant Steps’ staff nominate and vote on staff members who they see “make a difference” daily! The winners for the month of September were, Morgan Mensavage, Senior PA in Elementary, Joe Henigan, Substitute Teacher for Secondary/Transition, Mi’ara Perkins, Organizational PSA for Canopy, and Mandie Taylor in Central Administration.

Words from Giant Steps’ staff: Morgan has done an amazing job stepping into a new role in a new classroom as the Senior PA in Elementary. She came over the break to help set up the classroom and she consistently shows dedication and leadership in her role.
A few facts about Morgan! She graduated from the University of Northern Illinois in December 2017. Her favorite restaurant is Chiptotle (she loves the burrito bowls) and she began working at Giant Steps in April of 2018 and states, “This is the most rewarding job ever, I look forward to several more school years to come!”
Words from Giant Steps’ staff: Joe is a great example of our GS CARES values; he always shows respect and positivity to both students and his colleagues. Joe is very welcoming and has shown a lot of growth mindset and collaboration by jumping into the Substitute Teacher role.
What you may not know about Joe is that his best friend is almost two years old (his son). He loves football and Tom Brady (huge fan), and his favorite seasons are Fall and Winter because he loves to grill and BBQ during these times of year!
Words from Giant Steps’ staff: Mi’ara has been a steady help to both Giant Steps’ Day School and Canopy Adult Day Program. She always brings her positive attitude all over the organization and has brought great ideas to help the Organizational PSA team run smoothly.
A few things you may or may not know about Mi’ara outside of work are: she loves to sing, loves to cook and she is a Youth Coordinator.
Words from Giant Steps’ staff: Mandie has taken on so many different jobs and responsibilities this school year. From driving students on outings, to arranging the van schedule and driver needs, to helping make sure all the new-hire cohorts run smoothly!
A few facts about Mandie outside of work are she is learning how to sew clothing, she has two kiddos, a five year old little boy and a 16 month old little girl, and she grew up spending her weekends at a private airport where she primarily flew gliders!
